Good morning everyone!

I know, I missed last Monday. All I can say is that it’s been a crazy week. The weekend was even worse, as our router/modem went down. Lots of frustrating phone calls only to find out ours went down. Took 4 stores, 3 helpful (and one unhelpful) associates, and over $250, but we’re online again.

Anyway, tomorrow’s the big day. I head to Chicago for BookExpo America!!!!!

I’m going to be super busy, but I plan to make a post each night. Pictures, too!

I’ve always wanted to visit Chicago. Plus, I get to meet up with Todd Diel! He wrote the fan fic for ‘Daughter of Hauk’. Title is ‘The Faith To Fight’. Go check it out on Amazon…it’s a great short story!

I also get to meet some of my fellow Solstice Publishing authors, and a few friends. It’s not all ‘go to con, back to hotel’ type of trip. It’s promoting my books, Solstice as a publishing house, and being a tourist all at the same time.

I’ve got to pack, make a grocery store run, and reassure my cat that I do plan on coming home. And I can’t forget my Tentacle Kitty! Be sure to watch for photos of her travels in Chicago on my twitter feed (@DaughterHauk)!

Good morning! Wait…scratch that. Good afternoon!

T minus 36 days until BEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Watch out, Chicago! I’m heading your way!!!! Gotta get some books sent tomorrow. Things are really getting ‘real’ now. Plane tickets, hotel, rental car. Done. Once the books get shipped, even better. Because I know, the next time I see them, I’ll be at BEA. In Chicago. Promoting Solstice, selling books, and making connections.

The other thing that has me excited is that I started writing a new book. Yes, I know I started one right after ‘Wielder of Tiren’ went into editing. This one locked into my brain and would not shut up. LOL. It’s a bit different than my normal writing. More modern/urban/paranormal fantasy than sword and sorcery. It’s flowing really well, though. My fingers regained the itch to write. My mind’s constantly going over everything from small details to conversations to what will happen next. I don’t want to share details here. No spoilers! LOL. But I really hope everyone who reads my books will enjoy this one. I’m having a ball writing it. My beta readers are telling me they can’t wait to read the next section.

To give you an idea of how well it’s flowing: I got started on it last week. On Sunday morning, less than 5 days later, I hit the 10k word mark. No clue how long this one will end up. It’ll be done when it’s done. The beginning is done. Starting to move to the middle now. Then comes the end.

But it’s hard to really say it’s an end when the future’s so full of possible beginnings right now.

I did say it was 36 days to BEA, right?

I’m soooo excited!!!

I get to go to Book Expo America!!!

Are you going? Do you live near Chicago? If so, come by the Solstice Publishing booth (#2320) and say hello!

I’ll be there the entire 4 days of the convention, and am so jazzed! I’m already plotting out my strategy. What booths I should visit, how best to see other things in Chicago. But, above all, I’m looking forward to meeting readers.

On the last day, during BookCon, I’ll be selling my books. ‘Wielder of Tiren’ is now under contract and with my editor, with an eye for a release prior to BEA. You should be able to pick up all three books in The Raven Chronicles series directly from me!

And, to make you even more curious, here’s the cover!

New postcards for BEA have been ordered and will be there for the handing out! So, please think about adding a stop by the Solstice Publishing booth to say hello when you’re at BEA! I promise, we’re working hard to make you want to visit us.
